If space is at a premium but you still need table space for entertaining, consider purchasing nesting tables or stacking tables. These will store nicely out of the way (they're basically a table within a table within a table) until you need them for a dinner party or during the holidays, when there always seems to be more food than space. They're great for storing the holiday pies until dinner is through and it's time for dessert.

If you are looking for an economical choice for living room tables, you can choose from a selection of round, unfinished tables that you can dress up to fit your decor. Cover them with tablecloths, top them with a round piece of glass, and you've got places to put a lamp and a coffee mug, and some hidden storage space. They're versatile and inexpensive-a great choice for a student apartment, or when you are furnishing your first home. I've even seen new, plastic outdoor trash can--the round kind with a removable lid-put to use as end tables. Again, cover them with tablecloths and a glass top, and you've got inexpensive living room end tables with hidden storage-maybe for linens and pillows used on a sofa bed.

This means that if you already have a table or dresser that you like, but you need a little more room, an attractive side table could be a good addition.

The first thing you need to think of when it comes to glass tables is that you want to keep them looking bright and beautiful looking. Regularly dust and wash off the tabletop surface. You may also want to use Windex and some other similar chemical to really clean the glass and make it shine.

When choosing the perfect end table many people prefer to go with a square or rectangle shape but a round or oval shape can go nicely at the end of a sofa or between two chairs as well. A round or oval table can also make the room look less blocky, giving it more character and definition.

There's not really much difference between end tables, accent tables and nightstands, so if you can't find a style you like in one section of an online or brick and mortar store, check in some of these related categories. Today's designs allow you to mix and match concepts, putting what was once an end table next to the bed or for use in a guest room as a display stand.

I personally prefer to use oak because it is a very attractive wood and color; this is almost impossible to argue with. Because of this, it is easily incorporated into a wide variety of homes decorated in a great many different styles. Some types of side tables are harder to match with existing furniture, but this rarely the case with oak. Suitable for both rustic homey décor and upscale, chic décor, an oak side table is attractive in almost every setting.
