If you've ever gone furniture shopping and come home more confused than ever before, don't feel like you're alone. Without even going into styles of furniture, figuring out the difference between one table and another can be a nightmare. Take lowly end tables, for instance. Glass with black metal is a little more classic while still remaining contemporary, while glass and silver or gold metal offers a unique flair that adds color and style to any room. Some metal and glass tables even come in sets of three nesting tables. Nesting tables are a contemporary solution to the space problem so many people have. They can be pulled out to provide plenty of table space when it is needed, or they can be nested, one over the other, so that there is less table space and more room to walk around as needed. Another element of style in an end table is plain or fancy. The wide variety of tables available means you are sure to find anything you are looking for.

Of course then there is the bedroom which is what everyone normally thinks of using these tables for when they hear the term side table. Which is also a great idea; there is really no need for a big bulky night stand. I personally prefer to have a side table next to my bed. I have had night stands with drawers, and extra storage. All it seemed to do was just collect massive amounts of clutter.

But they shouldn't be too large or too small to fit in the space you have in mind. For example, there's nothing wrong with getting new living room accent tables that are different shapes - say one rectangle and one oval - and using them in place of end tables. But you don't want them to be too large or too small for the location, either overshadowing your sofa, loveseat or chair or simply willowing away because they're too small.

Another useful thing is that they work great as a complement to your current furniture, in addition to being fine on their own.
