Beyond style and size, you really want to think about features. While you wouldn't ordinarily think about a piece of furniture as having desirable features, coffee and end table sets can have an endless array.
Some have been known to use these tables as accent pieces, and place them away from the proximity of sofas and chairs. Quite frankly, there is little point in doing this because these tables have been designed for a specific purpose. If you want accent tables, there are many of them available to choose from online that look more of an accent piece than regular coffee and end tables.
So how do you go about choosing the right table? The first considerations are scale and the space available. An end table shouldn't dominate the space it's in. Rather, it should complement the other furnishings, especially those pieces nearest it. Additionally, if you already have a coffee table in place, you want the end tables to be in the same finish and style.
Next, there are end tables that can serve other functions.
Other end tables have fold out tops. These offer even more tabletop space for games that use a lot of pieces or for a few people to have a place to set their plates and drinks.
Ornate Bar Stool - Not all seats are made for sitting. I'm sure you've seen them from time to time, ornate bar stools with wooden tops that, with all that detailing, look much more like small end tables than barstools. Well, why shouldn't they be? No one needs to know they were originally supposed to be barstools. As soon as you put them to work as end tables, that is what everyone will think they are. If you have a little do-it-yourself know-how you may even be able to find a way to make those rungs on the barstools become shelves to make them all-purpose end tables.
