End and side tables enhance the ambiance of any room and even more so if they are made of durable, yet refined, teak. Placing these tables between furniture gives rooms a sense of connection. Teak end and side tables can be square or round, and are great for holding plants or flower vases.
Choosing a table isn't easy, partly because tables have so many names, yet the name rarely matters, what's important is the way the table is used. End tables are often found in pairs, one at either end of a sofa, but exactly the same table, on its own, at the side of a chair, would most likely be called a side table, you might even find it in the bedroom, as a nightstand. Whatever you call the table, it has a purpose, usually to act as a stage or platform for something else, a lamp, a cup, a book or all three. And let me suggest one other important element of your decor; a plant or vase of flowers.
Space. The main draw to wooden side tables and end tables is how much space they save in living rooms and on patios. Dining tables, dinette tables and coffee tables are all useful if you require more space to enjoy a meal, get work done, put your feet up, etc. But often times we don't need so much space, just a spot to store a drink, or a TV remote. Large tables are the kiss of death for small areas and apartment style living. They make spaces look smaller, and you've probably bumped your shin more than once trying to get around it. Maximize your counter space with bar seating and consider doing away with the full-sized table all together. Wooden side tables will really open up a room.
Of course then there is the bedroom which is what everyone normally thinks of using these tables for when they hear the term side table. Which is also a great idea; there is really no need for a big bulky night stand. I personally prefer to have a side table next to my bed. I have had night stands with drawers, and extra storage. All it seemed to do was just collect massive amounts of clutter.
Side tables can be placed anywhere in the living room where there is either a need for one or if you have some space on an empty wall. No consumer wants their home looking as if something is missing. The table also could replace a coffee table, Just make sure that it will look proper in front of your sofa and match your living room décor.
Side tables are extremely useful in many facets in the home. First, they can be put in traditional locations such as beside a sofa, chair or other piece of furniture were you may be sitting and need to set something down on a table surface. But also, they can be used as a way to show off some of the things you have in your home. For instance, if you have a statue that you really like, a side table may be a perfect base to set that statue on. Additionally, many a side table are stackable, yet ready for any use that might be asked of them. Some of these tables can be tucked into a corner or under one another until they are needed.
