If you are looking at all those square ends tables and thinking that they don't match, and therefore won't look right all being spread around your living room and patio, you're right. They don't look right like they are now. This is why you are going to change their appearance.
One of the great things about these tables is the variety you can find. Not only are round end tables available in a variety of styles, but also materials, including wood, metal, marble, glass and resins. Once you add in the different colors, grains, stains and finishes, you can get a table in just about any look you want.
It doesn't necessarily have to be an end table. Also remember that end tables can be just about anything you can imagine. Some nightstands look like end tables, and some wicker cubes can also be great end tables if they have a lid. Just remember that the style of the piece is more important than what the piece was actually designed for. Make sure that any end table you choose is about the same size as the furniture you already have. Dainty tables do not work well with huge pieces of furniture, and modern furniture doesn't match very well with some antique tables.
If you are a little uneasy about coordinating furnishings, you can get a fully-coordinated look when you buy a suite of furniture-sofa and loveseat, sectional and club chairs, coffee table and living room end tables, lamps and accessories. Take measurements and maybe draw a sketch of your living room-place the entryways and windows carefully--before you head out to shop. If they look great but don't fit, those new tables won't do you a bit of good.
Accent Tables: Accent tables are usually sold individually. They are a little splashier in appearance and are supposed to "accent" the décor in your room. As such, they come in many different shapes and finishes, including drum tables, drop leaf tables and tilt tops. They can be used in place of end tables, particularly if you just want a table on one side of the sofa or loveseat.
Many antique pieces are lovely and functional, and bring a rustic look to the room. With the aged appearance of the finish, antique styles lend a handcrafted grace and can be used as a focal point in the room. For a more modern décor, glass topped tables may enhance the overall style in the room.
