Your choice of end of table will depend partly on the style of your room, but mostly on the style of your sofa. A modern sofa with straight lines, demands an angular end table, square or rectangular. Check the size carefully, sofa's can be more than 40 inches deep. A 15 by 18 end table could look far too small, whereas a pair of 36 by 36 end tables will take up 18 square feet, and that's not including the sofa between them! If you have room for a sofa table behind your couch, you may not need room on the end table for lamps or flowers, but if not, remember it's these decorative elements that give your home color and personality.
In more decorative point of view, you could place one in your entryway and display beautiful flowers and prized possessions. It could also serve the purpose as a place to set everyday essentials such as your key's, mail, and could even hide some of your shoes underneath it to make your entryway look more beautiful and functional.
If you are very much fond of antiques and if you are looking around for a good mahogany side table, then there are chances that you just might not be sure what may suit the decor of your home. You can always try searching a number of catalogs online looking for different styles of tables so you can make your best decision.
End and side tables enhance the ambiance of any room and even more so if they are made of durable, yet refined, teak. Placing these tables between furniture gives rooms a sense of connection. Teak end and side tables can be square or round, and are great for holding plants or flower vases.
While major pieces of furniture (such as sofas) do the bulk of the work in a living room, tables are the soul of interior design; they carry the lamps and ornamentation which give a room its atmosphere and unique personality. Choosing a table is an important process, you're not just choosing furniture, you're creating a home and gaining a friend.
Side tables can come in any shape, style, or design. It can be made from wood, glass, metal, and iron and stone! I personally prefer to use oak because it is a very attractive wood and color; this is almost impossible to argue with. Because of this, it is easily incorporated into a wide variety of homes decorated in a great many different styles. Some types of side tables are harder to match with existing furniture, but this rarely the case with oak. Suitable for both rustic homey décor and upscale, chic décor, an oak side table is attractive in almost every setting.
