We have tables in our house that do Big Work. The kitchen table is where we eat two or three meals a day, tackle homework, and pay bills. The dining room table isn't called into service as often, but when it is, it's big-Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and birthday and dinner parties. Even the coffee table, while it's smaller in stature, works sits front and center every day. It's the landing place for magazines and newspapers, laptops and DVDs, soda cans and pizza boxes.
Now you need to make them match. Purchase tablecloths that will cover up the square end tables and make them all look like they were meant to be a part of the party. If you have a spring theme, you may want to choose tablecloths in a couple of the current spring colors to make the small tables brighten up the space even more.
In fact, there are literally hundreds of designs to choose from when it comes to nesting tables, from the classic look of the 1930s to rustic designs, exotic models, eclectic designs and, of course, traditional, contemporary and even modern versions. There's literally a style to match every home, and that's not even counting the finishes or materials, whether it's wood, metal, marble, glass or a mix.
End tables also come in a number of shapes, colors and varieties, so you can add a little bit of your character to your home while also adding a practical piece of furniture.
That's what nesting end tables are. They are perhaps the most flexible piece of furniture you could own, since one moment they can serve as a lovely end table, but when guests are over or the holidays roll around, you have additional table space for appetizers, drinks and the usual overflow of desserts.
The end table runners that were helping to avoid scratches are a good start. You should also have coasters very noticeable on both end tables so no one can claim they didn't see them.
